As Midland County provides the cake of the library, the foundation provides the icing. The cake consists of employees, buildings, books, etc. or the normal items and programs found at a public library. The icing consists of world-class exhibits, summer reading program incentives, special classes offered to the public free of charge.

“Born to Read” is an initiative to provide a new book to every baby born at Midland Memorial Hospital. That mean more than 3,000 books will be provided to newborns each year.
More Info.The Carnegie Circle is named in honor of Andrew Carnegie who was born in Scotland and emigrated to the United States with his parents in 1848. Arguably the greatest businessman and philanthropist of the 19th century, Carnegie is the 20th century father of the free Public Library system in America.
More Info.The Exhibit opened at Centennial Library on January 19 and runs through May 8. Staff has received positive feedback from patrons of all ages. Kim Patrick, exhibits and programs coordinator, has reached out to area schools offering field trips and education guides. MISD will not do any field trips this school year, but has expressed interest in the education guide. Staff hopes private schools and homeschool groups will book field trips.
More Info.This year marks the 11th anniversary of Project Literacy, a collaborative initiative that features school programs, author visits and book signings for the public.
